Artist Statement: While creating my artworks I convey Gender Identity, Gender Dysphoria and my own personal feelings when it came to living with this change in my life. These themes come together in the form of self-portraits, symbolism, chest binders and graphic imagery to convey my feelings and personal experience. The mediums I use to depict my ideas are through Woodcut and Linocut Reduction to use color and lack of color to help convey these feelings more. With my art, I hope to bring an understanding of the inner struggles with Dysphoria, the process of self-growth and how hard it was to choose my happiness over staying in the closet.
