Artist Statement: I am interested in representation and how that functions within the constraints of a portrait. I investigate how to adequately imply the beauty and complexity of each fiber that creates the rich tapestry that is the queer community. While it would be impossible to represent an entire community, I aim to highlight my story and the stories of some of the queer folk in my life in a metonymic fashion. I want to use identity as a geography on which I can build intimate studies of humanity.
