Bio: Charlie Patterson is a trans and queer artist in northern NY state, currently pursuing a BFA in printmaking, as well as a BA in art history, with a minor in art therapy from SUNY Potsdam.
Artist statement: My works mainly deal with darker subjects, as a form of self-therapy. It is releasing to express dark or upsetting thoughts through art; instead of bottling them up I express them without using words. Currently I am working mainly on prints that express themes of social justice or accepting mortality. A number of my prints from fall of 2020, and a future Presidential Scholars project, focus on the theme of human rights and dignity violations within the prison system.
